Confidently assess and diagnose Autism and ADHD in adults, with 16+ hours of self-paced professional development – accessible anytime, anywhere.
Why This Training Matters
Are you seeing more clients with suspected Autism or ADHD and want to improve your diagnostic skills? This comprehensive, self-paced course equips you with practical tools to confidently assess Autism and ADHD. Many adults with internalised or less stereotyped presentations go undiagnosed, and it's time for that to change. This training provides essential skills to identify and support these individuals through a neurodiversity-affirming approach.
Psychologists and allied health professionals require structured, evidence-based methods for assessing neurodivergent adults. My ADHD and Autism assessment training covers best practices that adhere to Autism CRC and AADPA guidelines while emphasising the importance of understanding how to diagnose diverse presentations.
Autism & ADHD Diagnostic Deep Dive: Go beyond the DSM to explore diverse adult presentations. We’ll delve into the nuances of adult Autism and ADHD presentations and recognise the importance of internalised and non-stereotypical traits often overlooked in traditional assessments.
Autistic Inertia, Monotropism & More: Understand these emerging research areas and how they impact clients’ lives. You’ll gain insights into how these cognitive patterns affect the client's experience.
AuDHD Profile: Confidently assess clients who are both Autistic and have ADHD (AuDHD). Learn to identify and differentiate overlapping characteristics and develop strategies for more accurate diagnosis and effective support for individuals with this co-occurring neurotype.
Differential Diagnosis: Differentiate Autism and ADHD from OCD, BPD, PTSD, Bipolar, and other conditions. Master a structured approach to distinguishing these conditions from Autism and ADHD to reduce the risk of misdiagnosis.
Screening Tools: In-depth training on key psychometric screening tools, including strengths and limitations. Gain proficiency in administering and interpreting various screening instruments to understand their applicability and constraints within different clinical contexts.
MIGDAS-2 & DIVA-5: Learn to use these diagnostic tools for confident, accurate diagnoses and to enhance your ability to conduct comprehensive evaluations that reflect clients’ lived experiences.
Report Writing: Create comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming reports using provided templates. Learn how to craft detailed assessment reports that are respectful and strength-based to facilitate better client understanding and engagement.
Real-World Practice: Watch demonstrations of me completing diagnostic interviews, review case data, and complete targeted reflection exercises. Observe practical examples of diagnostic processes to enhance your clinical reasoning and reflective practice.
Why This Training?

At AM Psychology, I offer comprehensive Autism and ADHD assessment training that equips you with the education and practical skills critical for conducting diagnostic assessments. However, to diagnose Autism or ADHD, you must have completed both my specialised training program and hold a relevant licensed qualification, such as being a registered psychologist or psychiatrist. My training is designed to complement your existing professional credentials, ensuring that you are fully prepared to provide accurate and effective diagnostic assessments.
At AM Psychology, I understand that a comprehensive approach to autism and ADHD assessment and training can greatly benefit from the expertise of various allied health professionals. While psychologists play a central role in diagnosing autism, other professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Speech Therapists, and Social Workers bring invaluable skills and perspectives to the table.
For this reason, I have designed this specialised training program to be rich with learnings so that even if a professional might not be able to formally diagnose autism or ADHD, they will learn essential skills to best support the overall assessment process and their clients. By working collaboratively, multidisciplinary teams can offer a more holistic and effective approach to support neurodivergent individuals and their families.
