I always recommend that provisional psychologists begin preparing as early as possible. The NPE covers a large and detailed curriculum, and giving yourself enough time to work through the content at a steady pace significantly reduces stress and increases your chances of success.

Here are my general guidelines for planning your study timeline:

• 12 months: Ideal if you prefer a relaxed, low-pressure approach. This timeframe allows you to integrate learning slowly, which is why the Full Course includes one full year of access.

• 6 months: Perfect for a moderate but consistent approach. You’ll need to dedicate a reasonable amount of your weekly free time to working through the curriculum.

• 3 months: Suited to those with minimal outside commitments who can commit a large portion of their free time to focused study.

As a Board-Approved Supervisor with over 12 years of clinical experience in complex psychological assessment and therapy, I drew on both my academic knowledge and practical expertise to ensure the course is accurate, relevant, and grounded in real-world practice.

The Exam Prep Quiz is an 80-question simulated NPE experience delivered in a video-based, timed format. You complete the quiz as if you were sitting the actual exam, and then watch the accompanying video where I walk you through each answer and rationale step-by-step. It’s designed to mirror the real exam environment and helps you practise managing time, pressure, and reasoning. You can generally log this as approximately four hours of CPD.

The NPE Practice Questions Modules are separate resources containing 50 written exam-style questions per module, each with detailed written rationales. These modules include a balanced mix across all four NPE domains and are fully updated to align with the December 2025 curriculum. They are ideal for additional practice and can be completed at your own pace. The questions in these modules are different from those in the Exam Prep Quiz, so many people choose to use both.

If you are a Full NPE Preparation Course member, you already have access to both the Exam Prep Quiz and all three Practice Question Modules, so there’s no need to purchase them separately.

You receive immediate access to the entire National Psychology Exam Preparation Course as soon as you enrol, and you can work through the content at your own pace and revisit lessons as often as you need during your access period.

How long it takes to complete the course depends entirely on your study style, your existing knowledge, and how intensively you prefer to work.
